Viet Nam has faced power shortage due to the unstable world energy market and the extreme weather, affecting the production enterprises, especially those in the industrial production sector.
Surveys from the National Energy Efficiency Program for the period of 2019-2030 show that the potential for energy saving in the industrial sector in Viet Nam is about approx. 20% - 30% of total energy consumption.
As a leading country in providing EE technology and solutions, in recent years, Germany has supported Vietnamese enterprises in applying EE measures. Through the GIZ Energy Support Programme (#GIZ/ESP), a series of practical activities have been implemented: building Small Energy Efficiency Group model (SEEG), creating EE Community (#VEECOM) with more than 1,000 members, and especially “Energy Efficiency Club” initiative, where Vietnamese and German enterprises exchange experiences, lessons learned and successful solutions. Enterprises, therefore, will gain confidence in applying EE solutions at their facility.
EE is considered as the most important measure, not only in the energy transition process but also in all conventional energy development plans. It is called the first fuel.
At the Vietnam Industry 4.0 Summit 2023, Markus Bissel – Head of EE Component (4E Project) proposed EE policy recommendations for Viet Nam such as: development of quality assurance criteria for EE services, develop financial incentive mechanism to promote market transformation and improvement of inspections through independent organizations.
