Status before implementation Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd - Thang Long Factory was established in 2001 and came into operation in 2002 at Thang Long Industrial Park (Dong Anh-Hanoi) with an area of 200,000m2 and employs nearly 8,000 workers. The company exports 20 million products, mainly inkjet printers and photo scanners yearly.
During nearly 20 years of establishment and development, we are always proud to be the leading FDI enterprise in Vietnam. Canon Vietnam contributes to Vietnam's sustainable development goals in most areas such as economy, social security, environment... and sustainable energy is considered by the company to be the most important issue. In particular, we focus on investing in modern, energy-saving technology equipment to maximize operation efficiency, avoided waste, and arranged staff to manage energy consumption in each department.
In particular, the Company has applied solutions for automation, control network connection, and application of “ industry 4.0" technology in energy management, in wich, the BMS intelligent energy management and control system is directly connected to the handset, in case the device has problems such as breakdown, overload, high/low voltage, etc that cause electricity waste, the phone will automatically ring to let the staff in charge know and conduct inspection and troubleshooting to minimize unnecessary waste.
With constant efforts, CVN has achieved a remarkable achievement that is to reduce power consumption by 13.6% from 94,387 MWh in 2016 to 81,607MWh in 2020. Below is a chart illustrating the detailed energy consumption of our company in the past 5 years. |
Result - Energy management system: To promote energy-saving activities, we set up an internal energy committee in the company's organizational structure to coordinate departments in the company to organize energy management activities, control indicators to achieve targets energy efficiency as well as promote energy-saving/reduction activities, which is led by the General Director
- Energy audit: The company has hired consulting units to conduct energy audits every 3 years since 2012, 2015 and the last time we conducted the audit was in December 2018. Another audit plan is underway, as of 12/2021.
- Energy manager: To improve the professional capacity of energy management personnel, the Company sent engineers to participate in the training course for energy managers of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Up to now, Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd. has 5 officers who have been certified as Energy managers.
- The 2020 energy policy goal was to achieve an efficiency index of electricity consumption of 22.4 USD/m2. The policy is the energy goals that are affirmed by the top managers of the company, and from that, indicators for each department, and division on energy consumption are given. By quantifying the index, departments make plans to mitigate, monitor, and report monthly the status of reaching the targets.

Our commitment to energy-saving solutions is carried out in the form of investments in equipment, techniques, and human resources from the leadership for operating and monitoring investment efficiency initiatives. Not only reflected in the policy, but every 6 months, the company's leaders will conduct a resource efficiency review to ensure that resources including people, equipment, technology, and budget are available to maintain and conduct energy-saving/reduction activities. |
