Green building methods in key construction facility

Company name: Post and Telecommunications High-Tech Center Building
Address: Xuan La Ward, Tay Ho District, Hanoi
Name of the Manager: N/A
Project Summary: 5-star title of GREEN ENERGY for key energy-using facilities in building for 5 stars.
Year of implementation: 2017-2020

Status before implementation

Previously, the company used about 500 compact light bulbs with a capacity of 40W to light offices, corridors, etc. Compact light bulbs consume less energy compared to incandescent lamps, but the number of bulbs in the company is relatively large and are operated continuously, which is account for a large proportion of the building's energy consumption. We have gradually replaced 500 Compact 14W light bulbs in corridors and offices with 7W LED bulbs with a longer usage time (from 14 hours to 24 hours/day).

Result

The Post and Telecommunications High-Tech Center has established an Energy Management Board has 02 energy managers who are certified by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The organizational outline of the Energy Management Board is established, as well as a clear definition of its functions and duties. Policies for annual and five-year energy-saving plans are issued by the Board.
Listing the equipment with certified energy labels and comparative energy labels (on the list of energy labels) used in the building: TVs, refrigerators, LED lights, and local air conditioners.
The façade of the building is designed with a system of large glass panels with aluminum bones. The wall system is divided into 2 blocks. The base block from the 2nd floor to the 5th floor, the tower block from the 5th floor to the 21st floor. This wall system is divided by floors and has stratified aluminum railings. Profile bars, box glasses, and accessories are synchronized according to European standards. The vertical bar system has a size of 140x54, powder-coated in gray color, and the horizontal bar has a size of 120 x 54 with electrostatic paint in gray color. The glass is a 24mm thick double-layer box glass (6mm thick each, 12mm thick vacuum). The aluminum layered ledge has the dimensions of 150x150x1.5 arranged at the location of the floor. Additionally, there is a decorative aluminum bar with the size of 75x75x1.2mm placed 900mm from the stratified aluminum edge. At stratified locations bordering the glass wall system with concrete floors, a 24k glass wool is inserted for fire prevention. The glass and aluminum interconnecting circuits are sealed with waterproofing silicone. The painting color blue is chosen to reduce solar radiation.
The curtain system that comes with the window is a solution to adjust natural light and reduce solar radiation for each time of day.
The SHGC coefficient of the glass wall system is: 0.1
The reinforced concrete roof is waterproofed by soaking in cement water immediately after pouring concrete according to the roof concrete curing process. After soaking in cement water long enough, a waterproofing layer is applied to the surface according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The non-transparent wall of the building uses unburnt bricks. The transparent wall of the building uses energy-saving glass (Low-E), has a low radiation coefficient, a good bearing capacity, a high reflectivity to infrared rays, and high heat resistance.
Natural ventilation in the building includes Ventilation in toilets, ventilation of fresh air, pressurized ventilation in stairs, and ventilation in basements.
Daikin's VRV-IV inverter semi-centralized air conditioning system (VRF) is used in the building. The COP index of the air-conditioning system is 4. The average lighting power density in the building meets the requirements of QCVN 09:2017/BXD, table 2.5.
Total energy savings from solutions is 4.2%. The energy-saving solution with the highest savings is replacing LED bulbs with a savings rate of 50%. The average payback period of energy-saving solutions is 2.5 years.
