BP21 - VSD for chilled water pump

Address: Ben Luc District, Long An Province
Project Summary: A textile and dyeing enterprise in Long An Province has installed variable speed drive (VSD) for chilled water pumps, reducing pump speed and saving power consumption.
Year of implementation: 2019

Status before implementation

The number of looms changes based on the production volume, and the environment temperature changes over time.

Chilled water pumps, condensate water pumps and cooling tower fans were operating at a steady speed. However, the actual load varied with the production output and time. The working capacity of the chilled water pumps was 8.9 kW.

Chilled water pumps

The factory may consider installing a VSD for the secondary pumps.

Result

2 VSDs (18.5 kW) have been installed for 2 secondary chilled water pumps. The operating capacity is 4.9 kW.

The inverter has been installed

Thus, savings rate is about 44% after installation (the rate is also affected by changes in cold load and outdoor temperature).
