INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCE ON ROOFTOP SOLAR IN AUSTRALIA

Event start at: 10/06/2023 (Thứ 7)

From 2 to 10 June 2023, 20 delegates from Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and GIZ participated in a trip to exchange experience on rooftop solar power (RTS) development in Australia. During this time, the delegation worked with 10 Australian energy organisations. They also had the opportunity to explore Australia’s rooftop solar landscape and lessons applied to Viet Nam's context.
Specifically, the discussions focused on a number of issues such as an overview of Australia's solar market in terms of policies and legal corridors to manage solar power in the foreign country in general and the states of Victoria and New South Wales in particular, as well as the opportunities and challenges of solar power here. At the same time, energy companies also share the technologies they apply in solar power, thereby helping Viet Nam gain experience to develop this industry.
In the opening remarks, Mr. Nathan Moore, Project Director of “Commercial and Industrial Rooftop Solar (CIRTS)”, said: “The approval of PDP8 has expanded the role of RTS in Viet Nam to 2030. When EVN warns about power shortages (especially in the North), it is a very appropriate time for Viet Nam to learn about policy, technical and commercial options to maximize the benefits of RTS for EVN and customers.”
“With Viet Nam’s distinct energy challenges and opportunities between the North/Central/and Southern regions, we are keen to learn from successful Australian state and regional experiences to develop and manage RTS. Furthermore, the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is the ideal counterpart to share experiences and lessons-learned for integrating and operating systems with high penetration of renewable energies, especially RTS,” he added.
The study tour is one of the activities of the CIRTS project - jointly implemented by GIZ, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and EVN, with the organizational support of the Transglobal Education and Training (TET) and the State Government of Victoria. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
